Police raids attack innocent civilians for *anticipated* free speech
August 30th, 2008Massive police raids against innocent US citizens in Minneapolis.
Protesters here in Minneapolis have been targeted by a series of highly intimidating, sweeping police raids across the city, involving teams of 25-30 officers in riot gear, with semi-automatic weapons drawn, entering homes of those suspected of planning protests, handcuffing and forcing them to lay on the floor, while law enforcement officers searched the homes, seizing computers, journals, and political pamphlets.
Think about it: the Republican party is using the police to harass and intimidate a few hundred college kids who plan on peacefully protesting.
It’s a perfect demonstration of the kind of change that 4 more years of Republican rule will bring. Look for lots of coverage of these raids in the mainstream news.
Update: the police doing the raids weren’t Minneapolis city police. It’s the Ramsey County Sherriff’s Dept. Sherriff Bob Fletcher is a former Republican City Councilman.
